Leith について

Leith is Edinburgh's great regeneration success story. Once a fiercely independent burgh with its own distinct identity — it was only absorbed into Edinburgh in 1920 — Leith spent decades as a declining industrial port before a dramatic transformation began in the 1990s. Today, The Shore (the historic harbour area where the Water of Leith meets the Firth of Forth) is one of Edinburgh's most desirable dining and drinking destinations, home to Michelin-starred restaurants including Tom Kitchin's eponymous restaurant and Martin Wishart's celebrated venue. The neighbourhood retains an authentically gritty edge that contrasts with Edinburgh's more polished quarters, and this raw character has attracted a thriving creative community of artists, musicians, designers, and independent business owners. The Ocean Terminal shopping centre, the Royal Yacht Britannia (permanently moored in Leith), and the emerging Edinburgh Marina development at Granton are anchoring major investment. Leith Walk, the long arterial connecting Leith to the city centre, has been transformed by the Edinburgh Tram extension (completed 2023), making the neighbourhood more accessible than ever. With average prices still below the Edinburgh mean but appreciating at over 20% year-on-year, Leith represents Edinburgh's most dynamic investment opportunity.
