The Upper East Side is the neighborhood the world pictures when it thinks of classic New York luxury. Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue are lined with grand pre-war co-ops where generations of New York's most prominent families have lived. Museum Mile — stretching from the Metropolitan Museum to El Museo del Barrio — is the densest cultural corridor on Earth. Yet the UES is far from stuffy. Madison Avenue offers boutique shopping rivaling Paris, while the eastern blocks toward Second and Third Avenues are filled with neighborhood restaurants, wine bars, and young professionals. Central Park is the neighborhood's western border, providing 843 acres of green space for jogging, cycling, and weekend picnics.
