Sobre Higashiyama

Higashiyama is where Kyoto's spiritual essence is most powerfully felt — a hillside district where 17 UNESCO World Heritage temples rise from cedar-forested slopes, connected by ancient stone paths that have been walked by pilgrims for over a millennium. Kiyomizu-dera, perched on its famous wooden stage 13 meters above the hillside, offers sweeping views over the city and has been a site of worship since 778 AD. Below the temples, the preserved stone-paved slopes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka wind through a streetscape of wooden machiya, ceramic shops, and tea houses that looks virtually unchanged from the Edo period. The %Arabica coffee shop — with its minimalist design and Yasaka Pagoda views — has become one of the most photographed cafes in the world, symbolizing Higashiyama's ability to honor tradition while embracing contemporary culture. For investors, the district offers heritage assets in a setting that cannot be replicated, with the strongest tourism demand in Japan and regulations that guarantee permanent scarcity.
