For families, the combination of safety, clean air, good schools, and genuine outdoor recreation is hard to beat. But there is one word that hangs over every Marikina real estate conversation: flooding. Typhoon Ondoy (2009) killed 121 people and left water marks still visible today. As recently as July 2024, Typhoon Gaemi pushed the river to levels that breached Ondoys records, triggering mandatory evacuations. About half the city is vulnerable during severe weather.
