عن Addu Hithadhoo

Hithadhoo is the largest and most populous island district of Addu City, the Maldives' second-largest urban area situated at the southernmost tip of the archipelago. As the administrative capital of Addu, Hithadhoo hosts government offices, the Addu City Council, the regional hospital, and the main commercial strip. Unlike the vertical density of Malé, Hithadhoo sprawls across a long, narrow island with tropical gardens, breadfruit trees, and wide unpaved lanes giving it a distinctly rural-urban character. Addu City is attracting growing investor interest thanks to Gan International Airport — one of only two international airports outside Greater Malé — which provides direct connectivity to Colombo and seasonal charter routes. The Maldivian government's Southern Development Zone initiative aims to position Addu as an alternative economic hub, with planned special economic zones, a convention centre, and expanded tourism infrastructure. Property prices in Hithadhoo remain a fraction of Malé levels, offering early-mover investors exposure to a government-backed growth story at accessible entry points.
