Ella is a mountain village that has become one of Sri Lanka's most popular destinations, thanks to Instagram-famous Nine Arches Bridge, dramatic Ella Rock, and the spectacular train journey from Kandy. The tiny main street buzzes with guesthouses, cafes, and adventure tour operators. The cool mountain climate (altitude 1,000m), tea plantation scenery, and hiking trails attract backpackers and adventure tourists year-round. Property is limited and largely informal, but guesthouse investments can yield strong returns.
